Maia Wilson, Silver Fern #163, is a proud Māori wāhine and one of Aotearoa’s most respected dual-sport athletes. She has 51 test caps for the Silver Ferns and over 140 domestic netball league matches, known for her consistency, leadership, and excellence on and off the court.


A natural athlete, Maia debuted for New Zealand’s Women’s Basketball team—the Tall Ferns—at just 16, one of the youngest ever. She then transitioned to netball, making her Silver Ferns debut in 2016 at 18. Since then, she’s been a key player for New Zealand in top events like the Netball World Cup and Commonwealth Games. Known for strength in the shooting circle, composed finishing, and smart play, Maia is a consistent scoring threat and game-changer.

In the ANZ Premiership, she’s been a leading shooter for the Central Pulse and Northern Stars, also captaining the Stars with mana. Maia is admired for her humility, fierce work ethic, and ability to unite people.

Off the court, Maia advocates for Māori representation, mental health, and body positivity in sport. She openly shares her journey, inspiring young wāhine Māori and Pasifika to follow their dreams. Her leadership bridges sport, identity, and well-being, embodying whanaungatanga, mana, and determination—making her a role model for all Aotearoa.
