Duncan Garner

Duncan Garner is a highly respected New Zealand journalist, radio host, and television presenter with over 20 years of experience in the media industry.

Garner's career commenced in the mid-1990s at TVNZ, where he worked as a political reporter for veteran broadcaster Paul Holmes. His early career was distinguished by his scoop-heavy journalism, earning him the 2004 Newspaper Publishers' Association award for Television Political News Reporter for exposing a significant payout to a Labour Party MP. He continued to make his mark in journalism when Three launched the weekend current affairs program "The Nation" with Garner as co-host.

In more recent years, Garner hosted "Duncan Garner Today," a mid-morning news and talk show on Today FM, which launched in March 2022. However, the station ceased broadcasting just over a year later, in March 2023. Following this, Garner was retained by station owners Mediaworks to present a new daily podcast titled "Duncan Garner: Editor-in-Chief," which launched in May 2023.

Garner's journey in the media industry, marked by his impactful reporting, controversial opinions, and adaptability to changing media landscapes, makes him a compelling figure in New Zealand's broadcasting history. His experience and insights into the dynamics of political journalism and media controversies provide valuable perspectives for discussions on media, politics, and public discourse.
