Razor Robertson
Scott "Razor" Robertson, is a celebrated figure in New Zealand rugby, renowned for his accomplishments both as a player and a coach.
He has recently been named the head coach of the All Blacks, New Zealand's men's national team, starting from 2024, a role that marks a significant milestone in his career. This appointment comes after a distinguished tenure as the Crusaders' head coach, where he led the team to an unparalleled seven consecutive Super Rugby championships from 2017 to 2023.
Robertson's playing career was equally illustrious. Growing up in Tauranga and attending Mount Maunganui College, he started his rugby journey playing for Bay of Plenty. In 1996, he moved to Canterbury to play for the Crusaders in the inaugural year of the Super 12 competition, primarily as a flanker. After his time with the Crusaders, he extended his career in Europe, playing for clubs in Northern Ireland, Scotland, and France, before moving to Japan to play for the Ricoh Black Rams, eventually retiring in 2007.
Transitioning to coaching, Robertson began as the head coach at Sumner Rugby Club in Christchurch. He then served as assistant coach of Canterbury for five years before being appointed head coach in 2013, leading them to ITM Cup victories. He also coached the New Zealand Under-20 team to the 2015 World Rugby Under 20 Championship victory in Italy. His innovative coaching style and ability to foster winning teams were further evident in his successful tenure with the Crusaders, making him one of the most successful Super Rugby coaches in history.
